The purpose of this chapter is to (1) describe common calculations used in radioligand binding assays and (2) outline steps for setting up and using microplate scintillation counters (Microbeta Trilux and TopCount).

It is advised when performing calculations such as those described on the following pages to use unit dimension equations. This ensures that values have the appropriate units for the designated purpose. Unit dimension equations are used through this chapter.
